Describing the new wave of doom and sludge and stoner metal is a little difficult, and is really Dominic's forte, but I really wanted to get this record up and out there, so I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Thou are not only a band from New Orleans, Louisiana, they're also one of the loudest, heaviest things on the planet when they play live, which is recommended in a tiny, dimly lit room. Featuring members of Dear Diary I Seem to Be Dead and We Need to Talk, the group churns out a form of doom/sludge metal that evokes bands like Asunder and Burning Witch, but also with (surprisingly) strangely beautiful interludes in the vein of a band like Neurosis. The band is currently playing, based out of New Orleans, but has visited the west coast and the midwest already this year, and will be touring heavily throughout the United States in the next year.Thursday, October 11, 2007
